Anju Bobby George is a trailblazer in Indian athletics, known for her historic achievements and unwavering dedication to the sport. She began her journey as a young athlete with an innate talent for long jump and heptathlon. Under the guidance of her coach and husband, P.G. Bobby George, she rose through the ranks, setting national records and making history on the global stage. Her defining moment came in 2003 when she became the first Indian athlete to win a medal at the World Athletics Championships, securing a bronze in the long jump. She continued to break barriers with a silver at the 2005 IAAF World Athletics Final and a fifth-place finish at the 2004 Athens Olympics—one of the best performances by an Indian track-and-field athlete at the Games.

 

Despite facing challenges such as injuries and limited resources, Anju’s determination never wavered. Today, she is committed to nurturing the next generation of athletes and empowering individuals to push beyond their limits.
